Great film! I saw it yesterday at the cinema.
Better than the other one, because the filmmaker bassed tha whole film in the figure of Micaela and her insanity, not in the priests.
It's a great pity seeing her in such state and how she is exorciced when she must be in a hospital...
We are always seeing her the whole film, but from outside. We see her behaviour, she talking about the voices she hears, she trying to touch the crucifix and she failing these attempts, but we never see or hear anything diabolic. This is a great point of the film.
Worth the view.
And don't think that the film is less scary... _________________ Peter: Just rest, man. Save your strength.

Peter: I'm here, man!
Roger: Don't do it until you are sure I *am* coming back!

Hans Christian-Schmid’s REQUIEM (Best Picture winner) takes as its basis the infamous 1970s case of Anneliese Michel, whose travails also inspired last year’s THE EXORCISM OF EMILY ROSE. Unlike Scott Derrickson’s Hollywood horror feature, though, REQUIEM is presented in a matter-of-fact, almost documentary style with absolutely no special FX whatsoever. Its simplicity is its best special effect as it tells the heartrending story of teenage Micaela Klinger (Sandra Huller) being tormented by strict family pressures, Catholic religious fervor, university student angst and medicated epileptic seizures into believing she’s possessed by something demonic. With its searing impartiality, precise period detail and Huller’s brilliant performance (she won Best Actress)—the final look on her face is absolutely haunting—REQUIEM is an evocatively dispassionate study in psychological breakdown. Art-house most definitely, but with that something extra special that any thinking genre lover will respond to.
