When Nata and me went to London we was looking a child's book, I don't remember the title. She loves child's illustrated books and owns a great collection of them. We get into a bookshop with many child's books... and asked the bookseller about the title we wanted. The woman, dressed in a spartan way (not with cloak, , more like Mrs Rittelmeyer from Heidi cartoons) and with a little cruciffix told us "I don't know that book..."... and added "is that a christian book?". We looked one each other and then to the woman and to her crucifix... and said "eerr... no, it isn't". She said "this is a Christian bookshop, my friends". I understand why the books are mainly for children and why all the books have Moses and stuff like that on the cover... Embarrassed we said "sorry" and get out there inmediatly...
Spain is a country mainly christian but we don't have so specialised bookshops here... |
Yes, there's one near here but it's also a 2nd hand shop, thank god!! I think they are trying desperately to make the UK christian again but it's either agnostic, atheist or other nowadays. Churches here are mainly empty and usually full of those at the end of their lives who are getting a bit scared of what it all meant and were are they going next. Malcolm Muggeridge years ago an academic went from Atheist to Roman Catholic in his last years and went head to head with Monty Python over the Life of Brian on TV. _________________ http://zombi-blogia.blogspot.co.uk/

The s(h)ame takes place here. Old people go to the church. Lately you could see some young people also going to the churches... mainly righties.

Yes the religious right, moral right etc etc seems to be the only voice you here of churches now or when their blowing up an abortion clinic. These Christians can be awfully unchristian sometimes. If he be a caring sharing God then I think the Liberation theologists are closer. Hey but who would let some 3rd world priest become the pope and allow priests to hand out condoms??? Make for some interesting sermons though I'd be there. _________________ http://zombi-blogia.blogspot.co.uk/

Yeah! Just remember that catholic church was created as a part of imperial control, and now it is just a world wide institution with internal social status, burocrats, etc.
Unfortunately, In 3rd world countries like mine, still have a lot of control, many people (mostly at the bottom of the social scale and from southern states) believe blindly in their priests (even more than God, I think). And their strategy to keep their lambs in line is (as usual) pure and hard FEAR. In fact there is a mexican movie that portray an embarrassing and true event that took place in a little southern town back in the 60´s/ 70´s. An angry crowd influenced by the local priest beaten and mutilated 5 or 7 young boys that passed by to climb a near mountain.
National guard had to end the possible massacre. I think that three died beaten to death with sticks, stones and machetes. Who needs horror movies anyway?
At the end, AS USUAL, church denied and ignored the facts and get away with it. Nobody went to jail or prosecuted. Another nasty little secret to the list I think. _________________ It ain´t over ´til it´s OVER! |

As you say in the end just another mass institution with lots of money and power. Some helped Hitler in WWII some were against. Like any group some bad, some good. I believe the last pope could of been Cardinal Norberto Rivera from Mexico but the idea of going for someone left of current thinking would be too much so they put in the Panzer Pope - stereotype I know but someone who was in the Hitler youth doesn't sit comfortably with all sections of society!! Bloody wars, murders, kids shooting in high schools, people wanting to be apart from there own countries and be fanatically nationalistic and yet we all live in a small greenhouse called planet earth with so few resources, so many people and so much hatred. If we don't get a balance between space and available resources shortly we are goners what ever but who knows were former Russian states radioactive material has gone. Maybe best that we are zombies and we stop worrying about the living who just want most of us suppressed or dead. _________________ http://zombi-blogia.blogspot.co.uk/

She's too little yet. But if the Apocalipsis takes place next year we could use her as a San Bernardus dog.
