I mean, they always eat lots of human flesh and I'm not sure they can keep all of that amount of flesh inside them. So, once they've taken the proteins they need, do zombies actually defecate?

What do you think?

I think that they don't take any kind of proteins from the flesh they eat. They only fill the mouth, the trachea, the esophagus and finally the stomach with chunks of flesh, but that's all folks. They are dead, actually they don't need anything.

Yeah! i´m agree with Pete.

In fact, the "food" they eat will be as rotten as they in matter of days, and depending in what season of the year they will be and the geographic area they "live" is also a cause of quick or slow disintegration.

In adition, we must consider the rotten factor. i think that fresh zombies got more chances of full their bellys rather than the veteran ones, due to the fact (i think) that fresh ones has corporal fluids a little bit "intact", saliva, esophagus, stomach, and they can swallow easier.

i don´t know, something like that.

Good question as the stomachs would fill up and blow up. A lot of the involuntary actions of digestion, even getting food down the throat would have to be intact or it might just be a memory thing, recalling they like food but actually just tearing at it, but having no flavour as taste buds probably dead and no saliva, but then again maybe part of the virus or whatever brings back certain parts of the digestive equation so that they do want the taste of human flesh and can digest it and get partial substance to satisfy their craving and maybe keep them going until they totally rot away if body parts missing. If they died in their sleep and came back to life within minutes then all bodily parts are still in the same position so maybe these zombies do actually live an almost human existence but with a taste for human flesh and an almost lobotomised personality as far as all their past memories are concerned.

Yeah!

maybe the virus-energy-radiation-or whatever that make them rise, could be the factor that triggers an automatic navigation "order" to the body functions, so they can be oriented, walk, see, smell, hear, touch, barely recognize danger or pray, and of course, have this huge craving for human flesh. Also could be a slight function in the internal organs, like breathe, swallow, etc.

By the way, Father, where did you take that pic from? I'd like to see more from that artist.

damn! you´re right! it´s like what was first, the chicken or the egg?

If we talk about our dear romerian zombies, I choose the theory of the low level body functions, something like the voodoo powder do to a normal human, it still alive, but feels no pain and all the body functions drop to nearly dead. Of course, the romerian zombies are indeed dead.

But that scene in "Land.." when all the undead walk underwater to reach their food, changed all what an undead could do or do not.

any sugestions? jeje! Wink

AMAZING AQUATIC ZOMBIE FATHER!!
Very massive, mighty and incredibly threatening.

Just imagine an outbreak of these creatures. I think that this zombie can be stopped with only one bullet, the one that you´re gonna shoot to yourself. Razz

Jejeje!

About underwater zombies in Land, I found it very funny. Above all, the zombie girl with the perforated cheek... How does she managed to avoid being filled with 90 gallons of water and end up like a zombie balloon? She musted to excret the water in any way...

Good point Peter about the water but then again that is the same ballooning principle if they ate too much flesh and were not defecating. I think that it would be a virus that causes death or being infected leading to the undead being slow because their dead, the human flesh is just an insatiable desire but doesn't satisfy anything as they could get through a few bucketfuls of ribs and still want more. If they fell in water and were the original slow zombies they'd be more likely to be swept away and rot quicker in the speeding water and as Peter said total immersion could have it's own pitfalls like blowing up as the water fills any passage ways! If we take the new Dawn of the Dead and 28 Days Later they could be seen as only lasting for a short period after infection or death so body functions could still be very good and falls away as time progresses. I never believed in the long term dead walking, a bit like vampires couldn't make the whole world vampires or they'd starve, if all became zombies then the ultimate end is not a planet of zombies but a decaying world were humans have died out or been eaten out!
